Dahn Basket Factory: Frank Flechtwaren

Today’s article gives us a sneak peak into an intriguing basket and home decorating factory store. It looks like it  might be a great place for those of you missing HomeGoods or Kirklands! And for your German lesson of the day: Flechtwaren means braid or weaving.

If you’re looking for some home decor or maybe some seasonal items, the Basket Factory is a great place to look. It’s located about 45 minutes away from Ramstein AB towards Pirmesans in Dahn. The prices are reasonable…especially on the basement level where they house their clearance items. But get there early before it’s picked over.

Look for these flags (coming from Ramstein they’ll be on your left).

They take credit cards and accept VAT forms when your purchases are over €50.

The back area of the second level is filled with seasonal decor. Much of which you’ll find at the Christmas Markets but half the price 🙂

I can’t believe it took me so long to get here. I will be making another trip soon to shop for some Christmas items.

Note: After leaving, we drove down the road a little ways to find Bäkerei Glaser, a bakery, cafe and bistro. Yum!

while we were stationed in the area Kaiserslautern and Neubrucke/Borfink…76-79…83-86..favorite day trip. lunch in Hinterweidenthal..renovated barn with chickens all over the place.. best french onion soup on the world. have enough baskets from there and all over Germany, could open my own store–not that I would sell any of them. still use a huge wicker chest to keep linens in, standing shelf in bathroom…many hanging from beams in kitchen.. such fantastic memories.
