We are excited to announce that Korea Ye now has several staff writers who will be writing for us on a weekly basis! Please welcome Christine, who’s kicking off her “career” with this post about one of her favorite cafes in Itaewon. For those of you who have been sending us your submissions – or those who have been wanting to but haven’t yet – don’t worry! We are still accepting submissions for anyone who would like to contribute their new find with us.

My little guy is taking Taekwondo in Itaewon at the TMAS Dojang (great teachers and classes, by the way) and every time we’ve climbed the stairs to the 3rd floor studio, I’ve passed the 2nd floor cafe and thought, “I should check that out.” Well, one hot and muggy day I finally did, and Neal’s Yard is now my go-to place for when I need a quick drink or want a scrumptious dessert.
As you look at the front of the building, the door is hidden on the right side and opens onto a set of stairs. There is also a back entrance through the side alley, which is how I often enter since I’m coming down from TMAS.
Upstairs you will find a cozy cafe with a view of the street, free Wifi, and some tasty eats.
They have a nice selection of coffees and teas, as well as some very yummy desserts. They are currently offering some different flavors of bingsu – I hear the green tea is awesome.
This trip I opted for a simple cookie and peach iced tea.
On a different trip (an “I deserve a major treat” trip) I opted for blueberry cheesecake and a caramel machiatto.
If you need a quick sweet treat, a nice place to do some online work, or want to meet some friends, Neal’s Yard is your place!

Heading into Itaewon from the intersection by Yongsan Garrision, stay on the left side of the road going towards Itaewon Station. Neil’s Yard will be on the left before you reach the subway station, across from the Outback Steakhouse.
From Itaewon Station, use Exit 1 and walk about 200 meters until you see the cafe on your right.
(They also have a 2nd location in Hongdae, close to exit 9 of Hongik University Station)
