Seoul Foreign School Namsan International Kindergarten

Seoul Foreign School is expanding to open up a new preschool fall 2013. It’s by Namsan near the Hyatt…so very easily accessible to Yongsan/Hannam.  It’s also an international school and popular with the embassy community. (It goes all the way up to high school.) They’ve got a bus that comes to base.  According to their website, the early childhood facility sounds great…wading pool, garden, library.  “Inquiry-based learning” and “eco-friendly”.

Ages: 2-5 years old

Hours: 9am-1pm for 2 y/o (or full day), 9am-3pm for 3, 4, and 5 year olds.  (school year runs mid-August to mid-June)

Cost: Payment is in KRW 22,050,000 (full day) and 17,850,000 (partial day) + additional fees.  For more details—HERE.

NOTE: This is an international school, meaning you need a foreign passport to enroll.  The parents’ employer often pays for tuition so these schools tend to cost a bundle.  I’ve heard that some will offer discounts for military families, so if you are military it’s worth a shot to see if that’s the case.  Some military families send their kids to these schools, but from what I gather mainly State Dept. families. I’m only including the preschool/kindy info here, but they go up through school age.

Editor’s Note: The information in this post has been updated by the school’s administration as of 5/2015.

For all you parents looking for a preschool that suits your kids, we’re hoping to add a little something to aid in your search. Parents of children who attend various preschools here in Korea have filled out a series of questions about the schools for the benefit of the rest of us. We welcome more than one voice on each school since everyone has a different experience, so please feel free to add in your two cents in the comments.
