Aşina Restaurant – Seafood With A View!

The best part about taking a drive to Mersin from Adana are the many great restaurants in the area and the amazing water views of the ocean. We have been to Mersin three times; each time we went we dined at a restaurant that is better than the last.

After spending the day shopping we were hungry and didn’t want to waste any time researching for a place to eat. So we stumbled upon Aşina Restaurant because it was conveniently located right across the street from the park where we stopped to let our daughter play. As we walked in, the restaurant manager and wait staff graciously greeted us.

There was a huge glass refrigerator case full of fresh fish and seafood. I was in heaven! I am a big fish & seafood fan. If you’re not, don’t be alarmed; there were other exceptional Turkish dishes on the menu as well (not just seafood). As you can see from the picture, I picked out my dinner entrée and I didn’t even have to bait my own hook and fish it out of the water!

The day that we went was a little breezy, so it was too cold to sit outside on the patio. We were seated upstairs near the window overlooking the ocean. The timing was perfect for us to see the sun setting—it was stunning.

There is also a little playroom upstairs for little ones to play in while the adults dined in peace. They have a staff member in the room to watch over the kids for you (another big plus for families with toddlers who can’t seem to sit still through dinner!).

Everything we ordered was delicious, from the sautéed prawns with sundried tomato & mushroom, to grilled chicken, to the Turkish signature hummus dish. My fish was very fresh and the best part is the waiter de-boned it for me at tableside.

The fun doesn’t stop there. At the end of your meal, they bring you a bowl of lemon water with rose pedals for you to wash your hands. Now that is what you call a FULL SERVICE restaurant. If you want to experience delicious fresh food, I would recommend driving out to Mersin and grab a bite to eat at Aşina!
