If there is one thing my mother drilled into my head as I was growing up, it was “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!” I don’t think a day went by until I left home that she didn’t cook me breakfast, and even to this day, when I go home to visit, she will make a big breakfast if I request one. So, as a mom now, I find myself making hot breakfast daily, but on weekends I love to have a break and go out for breakfast.
Enter Tartine Too, a fabulous little place in Itaewon that serves weekend breakfast from 9:00am – 2:30pm. You probably already have heard of Tartine, the bakery. Tartine Too is in the same alley as Tartine, just across the alley.
Their hours and menu are displayed outside.
Inside the restaurant there is definitely a café feel. It is cozy and comfortable. (Don’t let the fact that it is empty in my picture deter you….this was right at 9am, and if you’ve been here for a while, you know that most people aren’t out and about in Korea until at least 10am.)
There are 7 platter choices, but all of the menu items are available a la carte as well. In fact, my son chose his breakfast combo, but everything came in a set of 2 that he wanted, so we ended up just ordering one of each thing for him which was considerably less expensive and a more appropriate portion for him.
His combo: 1 French toast, 1 brat, and 1 egg. How cute is the little syrup pitcher?!
I chose the eggs, bacon, hash browns, and biscuit combo. It was all so delicious! The bacon and the biscuit were the best I’ve ever had!
My husband got the eggs benedict platter and said it was amazing.
On the way out we were drooling at the pie selection, and we did end up getting a few to go! We were too full to have “breakfast dessert” so we indulged in the pies for dinner dessert later that night.
I definitely recommend Tartine Too as a great place to get a delicious breakfast, especially if you are looking for something American style. It is a bit on the pricey side, but in my opinion, well worth it. We don’t go often, but it’s a nice treat once in a while!
Brunch is only served on Saturdays and Sunday, 9:30 to 2:30
The pie cafe is open daily from 10am to 10:30pm
