A new Hello Kitty Café has opened here in the Seoul area just a few months ago. The new café is located in the Myeong-dong shopping district. If you are a Hello Kitty fan this is definitely a fun and delicious place to check out! It’s also a great place to stop and take a break while out discovering and shopping in Myeong-dong. The café has many types of food options and they are all Hello Kitty themed. They have coffee, smoothies, ice cream, cakes, waffles, hotdogs, and sandwiches. Everything we tried was wonderful and so cute we didn’t want to eat them at first!
The café is beautifully decorated in pink and has several types of seating options. Even the restrooms are decorated in Hello Kitty items. There is also a large souvenir and gift section if you are interested in purchasing Hello Kitty items to take home.
They had adorable coffee mugs starting at 8,000 won each and they even had Hello Kitty Luggage sets for sale. The store also sells some Hello Kitty Island merchandise from their other store and attraction that’s located on Jeju Island.
I brought both my young children with me when we visited the café and they loved it. There were however no highchairs available to use there. Also another important piece of information about the café is that it is located on the second floor with no elevator. I went with friends and they helped bring my kids and stroller up the stairs but had I been without them it would have been hard getting up to the café.
Locating the café in Myeong-dong was easy when arriving to the area by subway. Take Line 4 and get off at Myeong-dong Station. If you take exit 6, walk straight (west ) and then you will make your first right onto Myeyong-dong Street. From there you take the second alley on your left. Walk down to the end of the alley and you will see the Hello Kitty Café on the second floor. Its right next to the Made in Korea store.
There are two other Hello Kitty Cafés in Seoul. One is at Hongik University and the other is at Shinchon. The new Hello Kitty café in Myeong-dong is now the closest one to the Yongsan base and downtown center. There is also a Hello Kitty Café on Jeju Island called Hello Kitty Island. That location includes a café, museum, art hall, exhibits and gift shop. Somewhere I hope to visit soon!
