Photo of the Week: Rüdesheim from the Vineyards

CONTRIBUTED BY SARAH WETHERWAX

Rudesheim from the vineyards | www.germanyja.comRüdesheim am Rhein (to distinguish it from Rüdesheim an der Nahe, a completely different German town), is a beautiful wine-making town on the banks of the Rhine river. It’s so picturesque that it is second only to the Cologne (Köln) Cathedral in the amount of overseas visitors in Germany. For beautiful views like this one, head out on the maze of hiking paths through the vineyards above the town, or take the chairlift to the Niederwald Monument.

Note: This is the newest photograph in our Photo of the Week category on Germany Ja! Do you have a picture that says “This is Germany” and want to share it with us? It can be a place, a person, a plate of food… whatever says “Germany” to you. We don’t need a lot of words to go with it, because a picture is worth… well, you know! If you have a picture to share, send it to submissions @germanyja.com. Danke!
