Alexis, the photographer states:
“When I first saw a picture on Pinterest of the Sanspariel Rock Garden & the Zwernitz Castle I thought to myself, “Wait, did I read that correctly, a rock garden?” What on earth could be interesting about a garden of rocks? Well, let me tell you! This garden is not your typical garden. It is made up of many natural interesting rock formations that you will see along fairytale trails that are scattered with lush green moss covered trees & staircases that lead you upon hills where very old buildings once sat.”
In 1746, at the sight of the rock garden, a lady at the court is said to have exclaimed, “Ah, c’est sans pareil!” – “It has no equal!” – and in the same year Margrave Friedrich had Zwernitz renamed Sanspareil.
