This holiday season, I visited the Christmas Market in Strasbourg and had the most amazing Kids Punch (also known as Kinderpunsch in Germany). The warm concoction of orange juice simmered with a cocktail of spices, rough orange peels and honey makes it a real comfort drink for the winter!
Here’s my version of the Alsatian Kids Punch recipe which I made for 10 children. They love it. So do I.
1.5 Liter of Bottled Orange Juice
5 fresh big Oranges
2 tablespoons Honey
2 Star Anise
1 Cinnamon Stick
1/2 nutmeg grated
1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon of ground ginger
- Squeeze the fresh orange juice. Keep the skin of the oranges and cut them roughly into pieces
- Place the cut orange skin, the spices, freshly squeeze orange juice and bottle orange juice in a big pot over a stove on high heat.
- Turn the heat down to the lowest once it boils. Let it cook for 15 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and add honey. Serve warm.
