Alsatian Orange Kids Punch

Alsatian Orange Kids Punch | www.germanyja.comThis holiday season, I visited the Christmas Market in Strasbourg and had the most amazing Kids Punch (also known as Kinderpunsch in Germany). The warm concoction of orange juice simmered with a cocktail of spices, rough orange peels and honey makes it a real comfort drink for the winter!

Here’s my version of the Alsatian Kids Punch recipe which I made for 10 children. They love it. So do I.

Ingredients:

1.5 Liter of Bottled Orange Juice

5 fresh big Oranges

2 tablespoons Honey

2 Star Anise

1 Cinnamon Stick

6 Cloves

1/2 nutmeg grated

1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon of ground ginger

Directions:

  1. Squeeze the fresh orange juice. Keep the skin of the oranges and cut them roughly into pieces
  1. Place the cut orange skin, the spices, freshly squeeze orange juice and bottle orange juice in a big pot over a stove on high heat.
  1. Turn the heat down to the lowest once it boils. Let it cook for 15 minutes.
  1. Turn off the heat and add honey. Serve warm.
