If you’re looking for a delicious guilty pleasure, then look no further than The Food Truckers in Itaewon. Located on the alley parallel to the main drag, it’s a hole-in-the-wall place with amazing hot dogs and fries. Leave your diet at home!
We (four of us) ordered the New York dog, 2 Napoli dogs, and the Havana sandwich, as well as one order of Seoul fries and one of Quebec fries. You order at a small counter in the main shop building, which looks to have a few seats in there as well, and they also apparently own an empty, unfinished space next door, which has 3 tables and some metal chairs set up. Luckily, the chairs had blankets to sit on, because it was pretty chilly in there and we all ate with our coats and hats still on! In nicer weather, they have a few tables and chairs outside their shop, as well.
The Napoli dog was my favorite – a hot dog covered in mozzarella, tomato sauce, and pepperoni. The buns were not your typical hot dog buns – real sandwich bread, grilled like a panini. I also got to try part of the New York dog, which had chili meat, sour cream, and crushed Doritos on it! The Seoul fries were really terrific – thin, crispy fries covered in roasted kimchi, seasoned ground beef, and laver. My parents ordered the Quebec fries, which had maple syrup and some sort of cheese topping – they didn’t sound appealing to me, but I tried one and they were so good I will definitely get them next time. My husband and father both tried the draft beer and said it was fine.
As much as we loved The Food Truckers, we are going to have to limit our visits if I don’t want to buy a whole new set of clothes!
